The #1 Way to Change Your Life & Your World

I’m a coach, not a psychologist, but let’s play a little word association game.

Yin … Yang

External … Internal

Force … Intention

Wait … What was that?

Yeah, how that last pair matches up isn’t exactly intuitive.  But hang with me.

I’m actually connecting dots here.  External and force are related to each other as are internal and intention.  Force is the yin to intention’s yang.

In the external world … the physical world … things happen by force, as in physical forces are at work.  And I don’t mean simply brute force.

If you want something physical to change, you have to act upon it with force.  Could be as simple as screwing the top off a jar or as consequential as splitting the atom.

In the internal world of the mind and thought, it’s different. There’s no physical force.  Okay, maybe hormones, but you get the point.

No, in the internal world, when it comes to changing things, the starting point is thought expressed as intention.

Thought is creative.  Where was that thought a moment before you had it.  Nowhere.  It didn’t exist.  Incredible really.  Thought is a superpower.

But thought is just the precursor.  It needs a catalyst to translate the effects of its power into the external, physical world.

How many times have you had great ideas to do something or stop doing something and never did anything about it?

Until that thought is crystalized into an intention, it might as well not exist.  And until that intention is acted upon, it might as well not exist.

Sure, we talk about the power of ideas, but your thought has no power to change your world unless it manifests in terms of your behavior … even if the behavior you’re changing is how you think about things!  How’s that for circularity?

You don’t have that second glass of wine.  You decide to start your own company.

So, why am I talking about this abstract thing?

Because there’s a real insight to be gleaned from this discussion.

Too many people have great ideas and good intentions and imagine they have force in and of themselves.

They don’t.  Ya gotta make the transition from the ephemeral world of thought and intention to the physical world of people and things.

How do you do that most effectively?

You do something many don’t do.  And I use the word “do” loosely, because it’s not about taking physical action.

You visualize.

If you’re ready to solidify the intention, the first thing to do is to visualize your desired outcome.

Visualize what you want to create and keep visualizing it.  And then plan the actions and take the actions your vision calls you to take.

When you do that, it’s no longer about force.

It’s about flow.  It’s about allowing your vision to manifest.

Thought … Intention … Vision … Manifestation.

It’s that simple … and far superior to Thought … Intention … Just Do It!

Is there force operating in our preferred formula?

Yeah, but it’s not so much reflected in your actual effort … your personal treadmilling.

It’s the force of “the universe” conspiring to give you what you’ve asked for.

And, as powerful as you are, that force is a lot more powerful than you.

My advice?

Allow it to work for you.

Love,
