Stop Fretting! Only You Can Change Your State from Worried to Relaxed

“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”
Most of you are probably familiar with this quote from Mark Twain.
Smart guy, and yet, like the rest of us, he worried … needlessly.
A short essay this month, because we’re in the Bahamas. Grand Bahama to be exact. It’s absolutely great here, by the way … the people, the beaches, the food, the weather.
Here we are in paradise, but we were worried.
About what? We found out we could take our pup, Willy, to Mexico with us this month, but we couldn’t bring him back into the US! All because of a concern the CDC has over screwworm, whatever that is.
Anyway, we’d have to board him … and we’d be gone about a month. And we can’t not go this year. We’re turning over everything to a new property manager, and there’s always necessary upkeep only we can do.
We’d miss the little guy, and we worried that he might feel abandoned. Then, his most excellent boarding place, Woof Lodge, sent us a video of Willy, 12 days into this current trip. He comes flying into the scene in a full out sprint, running to go play.
He’s happy. He loves it there, getting to romp around with all the other little dogs.
Why were we worried? I dunno. He’s on vacation!
Look, things usually work out and the worry doesn’t help whatsoever. So, when you start to fret about stuff, give it up. Let your default be that things will work out for you … and your pets.
They usually do. And even when they don’t, you’ve spared yourself the mental anguish.
And that just makes life so much better.
Love,
