A Simple Step to Make 2022 the Best Ever
You know how people make resolutions and set goals for the New Year? That’s all well and good, but how often is one of those goals or resolutions … Do more things I enjoy and make sure to have plenty of fun?
Not very often. Usually, this exercise is all about implementing some kind of self-improvement regimen or drawing up some kind of achievement-oriented action plan. Fun seldom enters into the equation.
But that’s my resolution. Have more fun. Do more of the things I like to do.
What does that look like for me?
I don’t really care about stuff anymore. I’m like the oft-stereotyped millennials. I value experiences.
And we’ve had a lot of fun experiences lately at our home away from home in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico.
We’ve spent a lot of time at the beach and floated in the sea pool on our floats. We went to the Akumal Monkey Sanctuary where they care for rescued animals. I petted a deer … Evan. He tried to eat my shirt.
I held two spectacular Macaws … one on each wrist. And I had a little squirrel monkey climb on my head and sit in my hands while I petted him. It was great.
We got to see a really fun Cirque de Soleil show in a magical jungle setting and were blessed to hear a world class operatic talent sing everything from Puccini to Sarah Brightman-style contemporary numbers in our town’s Community Center just down the street from our condo.
But the best thing we did was play “dolphin ball.”
When you’re at the marina first thing in the morning or just before dusk, the dolphins want to play. They get a load of spongy seaweed stuff from the lagoon, load it up on their noses and flip it backwards to or at anyone standing by the side of the enclosure. Then they come up and “laugh” … Eee … Eee … Eee. You throw it back to them and they load it up and throw it back. They’ll play for a long time.
It’s hilarious, and I told Tom, it’s the most fun I’ve ever had. And I got soaked.
I LOVE those animals.
So, my good idea is simple.
Enjoy your time. We only get so many revolutions around the sun. Do the things you want to do … the things that make you happy.
That’s my suggestion, not just for 2022, but for every year thereafter.
