The One True Magic for Your Business

God’s List lives right next to my computer, so I remember who’s in charge!
“The Lord helps those who help themselves.”
Aesop’s Fables
Hmmm … as a business coach, I want to parse that statement to see if we can find a gold nugget in there for you business owners.
It’s a simple idea. If you expect to catch the blessings ready to be showered upon you … if you want to receive the gifts you’ve asked for … it’s a good idea to hold out your hands.
What’s that mean?
It means you need to set a clear intention for what you want … like getting new clients and/or expanding your business.
Engage fully and do the work … take action … follow through … show determination and grit … and stay the course.
You have to do “the work.”
But note … this is a two-way deal.
Too many of us, myself included, have a tendency to think that the outcomes we get in life are totally dependent on how hard we try and how much time, money, and effort we pour into making things happen. I approached life like that for years!
But there’s something I’ve come to appreciate more and more.
The reward doesn’t come from sheer effort.
It comes from tapping into a universal energy that’s far bigger than you.
What you call it doesn’t matter … Universe, God, Source, Spirit.
You ask and it delivers … as long as you’re open and ready to receive.
So, what does this mean for how you should behave if you’re looking for the best results you can get from your life and business?
You need to put yourself in position to be successful by “doing the work.” That’s the help yourself part of the equation.
But don’t think you’re on your own in this. Even more important than doing the work is asking for the help you need with the things you can’t control and allowing the Universe to take care of having everything fall into place.
You supply the clarity of purpose and effort. The Universe supplies the wisdom. It coordinates events. It clears the way for you to get what you want.
That’s a powerful combination. It’s where the magic is.
What do I mean by “magic?”
You ask for more clients and they come to you “out of the blue.” You ask for a solution to a problem you can’t, for the life of you, figure out how to solve… and it gets resolved without your having to even get involved.
I don’t pretend to know how this happens. That’s way beyond my pay grade. I just know it does.
Case in point: I like to set goals for myself and I monitor the progress of my business pretty closely.
As of January 4th, I was $5,000 below my typical billings for the month. So, I asked the Universe to bring me more clients and opportunities. I trusted the Universe to deliver and I stayed out of it. No worry. No fretting. Whenever doubts arose, I reminded myself … just trust. And by January 20th, I was $5,000 above my target!
Clients started showing up from anywhere and everywhere. An unprecedented number of former clients returned to coaching. Referrals came in from people I barely know. It was all effortless.
And I’ve got to say, I like effortless “co-creating” very much.
Sure, I put myself in a position to have these blessings come to me. I’m no slacker. I believe I’ve “helped myself.” But being able to ask for help and receiving it is a wonderful thing.
I suggest, if you aren’t doing so already, that you give it a try.
It’s a skill and it takes practice. I didn’t get here in a week. The key is to rigorously monitor your thoughts, catching yourself as soon as possible when you start thinking, “That’s not gonna work.” Just let those thoughts go.
Look, it comes down to this. You can work longer. You can push harder and try to force things to happen.
Or you really can … once you’ve taken care of business … sit back … trust that things will work out for you … and let the Universe in its infinite wisdom work its magic.
Best Wishes,
