Superwoman Syndrome

A range of physical, psychological, and interpersonal stress symptoms experienced by a woman who attempts to perform perfectly in multiple roles or conflicting roles or goes overboard in one role.

Do you see yourself in that description? I looked at this and decided it wasn’t really me … but it wasn’t that far off either.

I read on.

A Story With No Ending

An ancient Chinese parable …

One night an old man’s only horse went missing. The next day everyone told the old man how sorry they were. “But how do you know this is ill fortune?”, the old man asked.

Soon after, the horse returned, bringing with him a magnificent wild stallion. Everyone told the old man how happy they were for him. The old man smiled and asked, “But how do you know this is good fortune?”

Is The Moose Real?

When I asked my granddaughter back in December what she was getting for Christmas, she said Santa was bringing her a unicorn.

And then she leaned in, as if she were letting me in on some real inside information, and said, kind of soto voce, “I suspect it’s a real one … and I’m gonna ride it.”

30 Seconds of Advice

Here’s some basic advice that transcends the stuff of marketing strategies and gets to the very heart of what will make you as successful as you can imagine yourself being.

Start the clock.

Sure, you have to be good at what you do, but that alone is unlikely to make the big difference.

When Will I Learn?

It’s been a really difficult time.

We’re launching our premier program, our 6-Figure Speaker’s Boot Camp, that’s been more than a year in the making. My Office Manager’s been with me barely a month and is still figuring things out, so I’ve been buried in technology issues that make me crazy. Seems like everything that could go wrong has! But wait …

My web provider decides to move their server to a more secure setting. Not only did that mess up my ability to send and receive emails for days just before a major Internet launch, but it totally disabled my laptop in the process! Every time we turn on the laptop, it takes down all my other devices.

It’s Fun-damental

Which do you think is more important to manifesting the things you want in your life and business? Your emotional state … or the amount of work you do?

Notice I didn’t say one is important and the other isn’t. I asked which do you think is more important. This isn’t a rhetorical question. Go ahead and choose an answer.

Crossroads and Lost Roads

Some people are blessed to know what they want to do with their lives from an early age. Then there are those among us who never quite figure out what we want to do and which interests we want to seriously pursue “when we grow up.” And so, we grow just a little bit older every year without having found our calling, our true passion in life. And that’s a shame, because doing what you love and loving what you do is such a big part of being deep-down happy and fulfilled.

Some people make choices easily … even impulsively. Others suffer over life’s decisions, intent on keeping their options open … until time forecloses on each possibility, one by one. The chance to grab the brass ring slips away, not because we were lazy or because we tried and failed, but because we were frozen into indecision and inaction by fear and doubt and uncertainty.

Up, Down, Or Nowhere?

If you could describe your life by using nothing more than a line moving through time on a graph, what would it look like?

Would the line be straight or would it look more like a wave, featuring a series of ups and downs, peaks and valleys?

Would it be ascending or descending … or essentially flat once any ripples were smoothed out?

Burn It!

2015 is almost gone. Pretty soon you’ll hear people talking about their New Year’s resolutions. You know, all the stuff they say they’re going to do, but rarely act on, much less accomplish … and would be hard-pressed to even remember by March!

Want to do something different, something that’ll have a far greater positive impact?

Give Me This … Or Something Better!

You were hoping things would work out the way you wanted them to … the way you’d pictured them working out. But they didn’t. And now you’re disappointed. You’re discouraged. We all go through that experience. It’s part of being human.

So, what’s the problem? That you allowed yourself to have high hopes in the first place? Absolutely not. Abundant life isn’t possible without abundant hope.

And yet, many people react to that feeling of disappointment and discouragement so strongly that they swear they’ll never put themselves in a position to be “hurt again.” They resolve to never love again, never put themselves at risk for financial loss again, never leave themselves vulnerable to rejection in their work ever again.
